I’m Sarah, 42, a mother to a very energetic and fabulous twelve-year-old son living in Somerset, I love tiny spaces, nature and shouting about all therapy and how important it is to do the work. I believe in doing the work and I myself invest in weekly therapy. I understand first-hand what a big commitment and financial investment therapy can be. It is therefore very important that everyone can connect with the right therapist for them. It is ok to ask questions. Ideally, it needs to feel like a ‘good enough’ fit, as the therapeutic relationship is a relationship after all.
I am an experienced Body Psychotherapist, I trained to a master’s degree level in Movement Psychotherapy, graduating from Canterbury Christ Church University. I use a range of modalities, such as somatic, person centred, creative and humanistic approaches. In 2012, I began working with mothers with post-natal depression, after completing a two-year placement in an in-patient unit. I continued my practice within this field and eventually expanded my work with children with trauma and attachment issues.
As a Psychotherapist with twenty years of experience in well-being and the Somatic Psychotherapy field, I have worked within the NHS, Bath and North East Somerset Council, voluntary sector, education and the community. I have contributed to many research papers in relation to trauma and attachment theory, and I am a published author, sharing my practice around attunement, attachment theory and trauma.
In 2020, I slowly started opening my private practice and since then, most people have found me through previous or existing clients. I find many people really want to begin therapy, but don’t know where to start.
If you have found my website and are still reading, you can totally take the next step and enquire about a consultation, which is simply a short chat about how I can support you and listen to what you need and if you don’t know, that’s ok too.
I believe there isn’t a final ending in therapy, there is a point to get to, but I understand that self-reflection, healing, awareness (or whatever current buzz word we want to use), is a continuous thread that unravels and deepens, as we become our own experts in healing and understanding our individual purpose.
I continue to deepen my understanding of the human experience and bring my own lived experience to my knowledge that I have explored (I have done the work!) I continue to be curious and question my own self, my decisions and feelings and the impact our experiences can have on our relationship with ourselves and others.
I am motivated and inspired by the resilience and grit that we all posses and how important it is to question and be curious about ourselves. We are on a continuous path that doesn’t stop and I see the huge value in accessing more awareness through the therapeutic journey.
