Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This notice explains what information this website collects about you, why, and what happens to it. It covers the website only. If we go on to work together, how I look after your information during therapy is covered separately when we start.
Who I am
I am Sarah Haddow, a psychotherapist in private practice, trading as Sarah Haddow Psychotherapy. I am responsible for the personal information collected through this website (the “controller” under UK data protection law).
You can contact me about this notice or your information by email at sarahhaddowpsychotherapy@gmail.com or through the contact form.
What this website collects
When you send a message through the contact form, I receive your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and your message. Please share only what you are comfortable sending by email. If your message includes information about your health or wellbeing, I use it only to reply to you and to understand whether I can help.
The website does not keep a copy of your message. It is sent to my email inbox.
When you visit the website, the hosting company’s servers record technical information such as your IP address, browser and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.
Cookies and similar technology are explained in the next section.
Cookies
The site only sets one cookie unless you agree to more: it remembers the choice you made in the cookie banner. Analytics and the Google map stay switched off until you allow them, and you can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
Analytics (only if you agree). Google Analytics counts visits and shows which pages are read. Microsoft Clarity records how pages are scrolled and clicked, so I can see where the site is hard to use.
Maps (only if you agree or press “Show the map”). The Contact page can show a Google map. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies.
These are the cookies the site can set:
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ctwb_consent | This site | Remembers your cookie choices. | 6 months | Necessary |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells visits apart. | 2 years | Analytics |
| _ga_C9XSFTCWR1 | Google Analytics | Keeps track of a visit. | 2 years | Analytics |
| _clck | Microsoft Clarity | Tells visits apart. | 1 year | Analytics |
| _clsk | Microsoft Clarity | Joins the pages of one visit together. | 1 day | Analytics |
| NID, and others | Google Maps (google.com) | Set by Google when the map loads. | Up to 6 months | Maps |
Why I use your information, and the lawful basis
I use enquiry details to reply to you and arrange an appointment if you would like one. The lawful basis is taking steps at your request before we agree to work together, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries. Where a message includes health information, I rely on your explicit consent in choosing to share it with me.
I use analytics, if you allow it, to understand how the site is used and improve it. The lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who else handles your information
I do not sell your information or share it for marketing. These companies handle it on my behalf to run the website and my email:
- 20i, which hosts the website and its content delivery network.
- CreateTheWeb, which builds and looks after the website and sends the contact form emails through its mail server.
- Google, which provides my email (Gmail), and, only if you agree, Google Analytics and Google Maps.
- Microsoft, which provides Clarity, only if you agree.
Google and Microsoft may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the UK’s data bridge with the United States or approved contract terms.
How long it is kept
- Contact form messages: in my email inbox for as long as I need them to reply to you and to keep a record of our contact.
- Your cookie choice: six months in your browser, after which you are asked again. The site keeps an anonymous record of the choice (no name or IP address) for two years, so it can show consent was given.
- Analytics data: for the period set in Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
Your rights
You can ask me for a copy of the information I hold about you, and ask me to correct it, delete it, or stop or limit how I use it. Where I rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email me and I will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
